We Can Provide The Following Cover

Below you will find the information that relates to the cover that we can provide if you require Travel Insurance.

A policy can cover an individual for personal or business trips, or we can provide a blanket cover for anybody travelling on company business.

For company trips, whilst cover normally applies to employees we can extend our policy to cover consultants working on a temporary basis with the Insured.  We can also consider providing cover for employee’s partners and family whilst accompanying an employee during a business trip however cover for certain sections will be limited or capped.

Territorial limits
Our travel cover is split into easy to select Territorial groups which are:

High Risk Territories (1); use this if your trip includes any travel to a territory in the high-risk list.  Provided non High-Risk Territories are advised it will provide cover for those territories as well.

Europe; we can offer travel to the whole of Western Europe including non EU states or for those that are travelling only to Schengen states within Europe a specific Schengen policy tailored to Schengen Insurance requirements.  For Iraqi travellers this policy will meet the specific requirements for Schengen travel.

Worldwide excluding North America (2); Travel anywhere in the world but will exclude North America

Worldwide including North America (2); Global travel cover including North America (please check the ‘Period of Cover’ specific note regarding long term travel within the USA.

(1) For High-Risk Territories under certain circumstances cover we can provide will be restricted for specific territories, we will make you aware of these restrictions prior to binding any cover for you.

(2) For any form of Worldwide travel coverage, High-Risk Territories are specifically excluded unless the territory has been disclosed and the appropriate premium paid.
Period of Cover Basis
Our travel cover is flexible in that for the standard package we offer:

Daily* Up to 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, 28 days
Monthly* 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months.
Annual*  A full annual cover
Multiperiod* Providing multiple trip coverage in a 12 month period with options of no single trip lasting more than 30 or 60 days.

*Trips to the USA:

Any Insurance cover we provide under any of our Travel plans is not subject to nor provides nor do we intend to provide any insurance benefits required by the United States Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) either on a primary or excess basis

For bespoke coverage for companies, we can offer (dependant on company size) declaration based policies based on days travelled per employee and would be happy to discuss your requirements with you please contact us
Ages Covered
Our travel policies can cover from 0 to 69 as standard.

We will consider older travellers but cover will be subject to additional information being supplied by the traveller and they would be subject to underwriting and restrictions to cover and limits provided, Please contact us for more details if you fall into this category of traveller.
Trades and occupations covered

We can consider high risk trades including Security and Mine clearance operatives.  The only occupations we will not cover under any circumstances are members of Armed Force.

Main Exclusions
All our policies will have exclusions within them depending on the cover requested and the type of policy issued.  The following are the main exclusions however we do provide a specimen wording with our quotations which contains the exclusions applicable to that specific quotation. This is not an exhaustive list and is subject to the sections being covered and individual underwriting in certain circumstances.

  • Any excess shown in the policy.
  • Any medical treatment provided that was not caused by an accident or illness during the period of cover.
  • Cosmetic surgery unless following an accident during the period of cover.
  • Self-inflicted injury, suicide, claims arising due to the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Any claim arising where advice or instruction from our helpline is ignored or disregarded.
  • High risk Sports activities (some can be considered see FAQ’s).
  • Pre-existing medical conditions (some can be considered see FAQ’s).
  • Pregnancy for childbirth, miscarriage, or any disorder of the reproductive system.
  • Any loss or damage to property whilst left Unattended, unless in a locked hotel room, safe, apartment or holiday residence.
  • Any loss of Property, Money, Passport, Credit/Debit cards unless reported to police, card provider, embassy/consulate within 24 hrs of loss.
  • War/Terrorist activity when taking an active part therein.
  • Actual or threatened malicious use of pathogens poisonous biological or chemical materials, nuclear reaction, nuclear radiation, or radioactive contamination.

Travel Insurance

Persons covered
For business Travel Policies, there are very few occupations where we cannot offer coverage, the only occupations we cannot cover under any circumstances are any Member of an Armed force or Militia or someone who is the subject of an individual Sanctions order.

We can consider providing cover for Professional Sports persons / Teams, Journalists / Photographers, Private Security Companies and Mine Clearance companies but cover may be declined for certain territories depending on political situation and will be subject to reinsurance capacity.

For holiday travel we are unable to cover anyone subject to an individual sanctions order.

Sections covered under our Package cover

Our package policies provide a wide range of benefits which can be summarised as follows, click on each for a brief summary of the cover:

Medical Expenses including Medical Repatriation

Provides medical expenses coverage following an accident or illness occurring during the duration of the trip and if need be repatriation home.

Personal Accident

Provides a fixed sum following your Death / Loss of Limb(s) / sight or Permanent Disablement following an accident occurring during the duration of the trip.

Natural & Political risk Repatriation

The reasonable costs and expenses incurred to repatriate an insured person from a defined political event or following a natural disaster necessitating their removal from the host country.

Disaster Crisis Management
Provides fees for a Crisis Response Consultant and Reasonable and Justifiable Extra Expenses as pre-approved by Crisis Response Consultants incurred by an insured person that are necessarily incurred directly and solely as the result of the management of a potential, actual or threatened Crisis Event, including but not limited to:

  • Emergency evacuation costs, Relocation travel and accommodation, independent interpreter fees and expenses, Development of a search protocol. Deployment of temporary security manager/coordinator or close escort resource

We define a “Crisis Event” as
  • Any unstable and dangerous situation which has directly caused or has the potential to cause serious bodily harm or death to an Insured Person, with little or no warning, as listed here:

Political Threat / upheaval including war, riot, rebellion, revolution, invasion, Wrongful Detention / Kidnapping / Blackmail / Extortion, Violent Crime / malicious attack, Natural disasters, Act of Terrorism, Civil commotion, Bomb explosion, Child abduction, Disappearance, Hijack.

This section encompasses all the usual items you would expect to be covered in a travel policy however we also provide cover for the additional costs of a replacement employee should an original employee be unable to travel through accident or illness prior to or during the trip and cover for business equipment, samples and documents.

Extensions to the cover
We can on receipt of full underwriting information consider the following extensions:

  • Manual work undertaken during the trip
  • Trade samples and personal electronic business equipment.
  • Pleasure trips taken during a business trip
  • Spouses and dependants’ coverage on a Business Travel Policy
  • High Risk sports coverage

We will consider coverage for Pre-existing Medical issues

All information requested is required by both us and our reinsurers – however we may request more information to be supplied before we are able to indicate pricing or the extent of cover we can provide.

To be able to provide a Travel Insurance quotation we require some general information about you and/or your company to complete our Know Your Client, Sanctions and Money Laundering checks.  (If you’re an existing client and have provided this information recently this step can be ignored)

  • For companies, we require the company name and address, in addition we will also require Directors and shareholders details (required for domestic and international Sanctions and Money Laundering checks)
  • For individuals or non business groups, the schedule we will require for providing a quotation for either Personal Accident or Travel cover will provide the initial information we need to run checks.

To provide a Quotation the specific information we will need as a minimum is:

    • Dates of Travel it the policy is not an annual policy, for an annual policy we require the inception date, cover will be issued for a 12-month period from this date.
    • A schedule of names and other information relating to those travelling which needs to be in the format as below This can be supplied by email or in a word document, PDF or Excel spreadsheet.

Refer to the FAQ’s as to what constitutes a Pre-existing medical condition.  Unless declared and accepted in writing all pre-existing medical conditions are automatically excluded from cover.

    Syria, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Ukraine, Pakistan, Lebanon, Nigeria, Egypt, Turkey, Burundi, DRC, Mali, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Colombia, Chad, Cameroon, Israel/PA, Kenya, Algeria, Thailand, Niger, Russia.

    NOTE: Even though a territory is shown on this list, your country of residence may ban travel to it for its citizens or it falls under Sanctioned Territory legislation (EU, UN, USA etc) . As this list is subject to change at short or no notice it is important to check with us before purchasing cover using ‘Contact Us’.
  • Claims history for the past five years. Where you have had cover previously for a corporate or annual policy, we will require a confirmed claims experience from your previous insurer before being able to bind cover and all quotations are subject to this information being supplied.
